Claire Cummings
(She/Her/Hers)
If you’ve ever wondered why you react the way you do, or why old hurts still shape your present, you’re not alone. I offer guidance for self-exploration and create a space for non-judgmental curiosity about the ways your past impacts your life now. Folks I support often grew up with emotionally immature parents who were self-involved, emotionally unavailable or extremely critical, and are trying to do things differently in their own life.
My approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness to help you nurture self-compassion, accept your thoughts and feelings, and stay present.
As a therapist, I commit to co-creating a space for growth and being present to your unique experience. As a CIS white woman, I strive to embody cultural humility and critically examine the religious, cultural, and social systems that confine us and cause harm. I bring my lived experience with patriarchal systems, religious trauma, mental illness in my community, parenting, pregnancy loss, death, generational trauma, aging and ill family members, and perimenopause to my practice as a therapist.
My social work training has equipped me to support you in accessing social supports you might need for your family or yourself.
I look forward to working with you!
